Wombaroo Alpaca Milk Replacer is formulated to support the growth and development of young alpacas. Developed to provide balanced nutrition during the nursing period, it is suitable for orphaned crias, supplemental feeding, or situations where maternal milk is unavailable or insufficient.

Designed using Wombaroo's research-based approach to species-specific nutrition, this formula provides the nutrients needed to support healthy growth, development, and overall condition during the early stages of life.

Commonly used by breeders, veterinarians, and animal care professionals, Wombaroo Alpaca Milk Replacer offers a convenient feeding option for raising young alpacas when additional nutritional support is needed.

Mixing & Storage

Quick Feeding Guide:

  • To make 1 liter of formula: Mix 170 g powder with 850 mL warm water
  • Warm prepared formula to approximately 95°F (35°C) before feeding
  • Feed using a bottle fitted with a nipple
  • Hold the bottle vertically to simulate natural nursing from the mother's udder. This extended neck position helps direct milk to the third stomach compartment, where proper milk digestion occurs
  • Feeding from an elevated teat is preferred over bucket feeding, as it helps prevent milk from entering the first stomach compartment where fermentation can lead to digestive upset
  • Feed every 2 hours during the first 4 days of life
  • Reduce feeding to every 4 hours by the end of the first week
  • Feed every 6 hours by approximately 3 weeks of age
  • Always follow the recommended feeding volumes provided on the product packaging

Mixing:

  • Pre-boil water and allow it to cool before mixing
  • Add approximately half the water to the powder and mix into a smooth paste
  • Add the remaining water and mix thoroughly until fully dispersed
  • Avoid using water that is too hot, as it may cause curdling
  • Water that is too cold may make the powder difficult to dissolve
  • An electric whisk may be used when preparing larger quantities

Storage

  • Refrigerate prepared formula for up to 24 hours
  • Freeze for up to 2 weeks
  • Freeze in small portions for convenient daily use
  • Once thawed, discard any unused formula
  • Wash all feeding equipment thoroughly after use
  • Store unmixed powder in a cool, dry place
